A.R. Mosque Library Fachrudin Univ. Malang Muhammadiyah

The library is a vital public service and is needed by all academics, both individually and as an institution. Admittedly or not the existence of a library as a technical implementation unit is a facility that can support, expedite and facilitate the teaching and learning process in an educational institution independently. We know that UMM has four libraries in different locations, including: the Health Library on Campus II, the Central Library on Campus III, the Postgraduate Library on Campus III GKB IV, the Mosque Library in the A.R. Fakhruddin. Each library has its own features apart from location and collection, and this time we will introduce the UMM Mosque Library.
Discussing about the A.R. Mosque Library Fachruddin UMM has an interesting side because its establishment has a twisting history along with UMM's journey. In 1998 the mosque library became a part of LSIK (Institute for Islamic and Kemuhammadiyahan Studies), whose presence was certainly intended as a reading room and as a source of information and knowledge about Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan. Then over time it became independent from LSIK and became a UPT (Technical Implementation Unit), but in the process of managing the collection it was still under supervision and assistance with the UMM Central Library. 2000 A.R. Mosque Library Fachruddin was merged into one management with the UMM Central Library as a user service unit.
The collection owned by the A.R. Mosque Library Fachruddin totaled 8487/18994 titles/copies, consisting of reference collections, general collections, and collections of books (in Arabic) which account for ± 35% of the entire collection in the mosque's library. Because the collection of books in Arabic is dominated by books of interpretation and hadith, the mosque library is used as a practical class for hadith and interpretation courses. So for academics who need special collections for the Islamic religion, they can go directly to the mosque library to borrow or read on the spot. The layout of the reading room in the mosque library is made as attractive and comfortable as possible by adjusting the area of the existing room.
As the name implies the mosque library is in the area of the A.R. Fachruddin 2nd floor, which opens services from Monday - Friday from 8.00 - 16.30 WIB., on Saturday the service hours are until 12.00 WIB. Because it is located in the area of the mosque building, of course, every time the Adhan is sounded as a sign of entering prayer times, the library temporarily closes services for users and reopens after the congregational prayers are over.
The existence of separate UMM libraries is very interesting, this will break up the crowd not only at one point. Besides that, it will provide comfort, peace of mind, it will also make it easier for users to search for collections. It is hoped that the presence of the mosque library will be able to meet the needs of users who need literature on religion (Islam).
