Books are one of the media that can add insight and increase knowledge. The presence of books that have existed in the world since hundreds of years ago shows the role that books play in human life both individually and in groups. So naturally to commemorate book day was sparked and determined by Mr. Malik Fajar who at that time served as Minister of Education on May 17 2002 as Book Day based on the establishment of the National Library on May 17 1980. This was also due to concerns about low and the lack of interest in reading and information literacy in Indonesian society.
With the Commemoration of Book Day, it is hoped that it will be able to cultivate a love of reading in our society, especially among the younger generation who are the nation's successors who will bear responsibility for the continuation of the Indonesian nation and state. It takes an intelligent next generation with a quality mentality, one of which is reading.
